Chief Carrizzo is the Fire Chief of Southern Platte Fire Protection District. Southern Platte FPD is a growing department serving nearly 40,000 people in 77 square miles. The district serves three municipalities and unincorporated portions of Platte County adjoining the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The District also contracts for full service to two other cities. During his twelve-year tenure as Chief, he has successfully managed the transition from an all volunteer to a combination department with 41 paid personnel and 15 active volunteer personnel. Active in local, state and national fire service professional organizations, Chief Carrizzo serves as President of the Heart of America Metro Fire Chief's Council, is an advisory board member for the community college's fire science program, Executive Board Member of the Missouri Valley Division of IAFC and serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He currently serves his community as a member of the Southern Platte Rotary Club and is a coach for a little league program. Chief Carrizzo is also very active with his children's school.
Academically, he holds a Master of Business Administration degree, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, an Associate degree in Applied Science in Fire Science and is a graduate of NFA Executive Fire Officer Program. In 2001, he received his Chief Fire Officer Designation from Commission of Professional Credentialing (previously, CFAI) and was re-designated in 2004 and 2007. He also holds the designation of MIFireE.
